We are delighted to announce the hiring of a new team member: Amy Betz, our new office manager! This staff position is the face of CASA to those who visit our office, and Amy has proven to be a great addition to our team.
"CASA will miss the institutional knowledge of Carol Huettner as she retires,” says Erick Vaughn, Executive Director. “We are excited to add Amy to our team and look forward to the strengths she can bring to our organization."
In this quick Q&A, Amy shares a bit about herself and what she's learned since starting with CASA this fall. Welcome, Amy!
What was your path to becoming Douglas County CASA's Office Manager?
I've always enjoyed nonprofit work; my previous jobs were in museums, where I developed an appreciation for the nonprofit atmosphere. I appreciate a workplace where everyone wants to do something that's good for the world, and the lovely kind of people who work on staff. In my former work in KU's museum collections, I developed a lot of skills that turned out to be very useful in this position. I was over the moon when I was offered this job!
What inspires you about working with our organization?
The fact that we're helping kids in Douglas County in a very direct, tangible way is what makes me excited to work here. It keeps me going every day to know that what I'm doing is making a difference.
What are your responsibilities in this role?
My primary responsibilities are property management and accounting-- I keep the lights on and make sure our finances are in order. I'm also responsible for reception, so I get to be the first smiling face everyone sees when they walk in the door!
What are you most excited about in the coming year for your position?
I'm excited to make some changes that will make all of our employees' lives easier and to get some things started that will benefit us in the long term, like new emergency procedures and improved methods for internal communication.
What are your hopes for supporting CASA's mission?
I'm happy for every opportunity to get to know our volunteers, CASA kiddos, donors, board members, and everyone else who walks through our doors.
